چکیده
This study determined the buckling characteristics of sphere-segmented toroidal shells subjected to external pressure. The proposed vessel comprises six spheres and rings. Two laboratory models with same nominal dimensions were manufactured, measured, tested, evaluated. To investigate whether are imperfection-sensitive structures closely spaced eigenvalues, subspace algorithm was applied evaluate first 50 eigenmodes, modified Riks used obtain post-buckling characteristics. results indicated that deviation between experimental numerical analyses within a reasonable range. highly eigenvalues. Subsequently, imperfection sensitivity analysis confirmed this conclusion. In analyses, eigenmode could be considered as worst shells. trend equilibrium path consistent spherical shells, revealing instability. addition, ellipticity completeness exerted negligible effect on load

Evaluation of Buckling and Post Buckling of Variable Thickness Shell Subjected to External Hydrostatic Pressure
Buckling and post buckling of cylindrical shells under hydrostatic pressure is regarded as important issue in structure of submarines. These cylindrical shells have variable thickness due to construction process which effected by pressure of buckling and its destruction. In this paper, effects of changing thickness on buckling and destruction pressure under external hydrostatic pressure of a sh...

متن کاملFinite Element Analysis of Buckling of Thin Cylindrical Shell Subjected to Uniform External Pressure
One of the common failure modes of thin cylindrical shell subjected external pressure is buckling. The buckling pressure of these shell structures are dominantly affected by the geometrical imperfections present in the cylindrical shell which are very difficult to alleviate during manufacturing process. In this work, only three types of geometrical imperfection patterns are considered namely (a...
متن کاملA numerical and experimental study on buckling and post-buckling of cracked plates under axial compression load
Existence of cracks in industrial structures is one of the important causes of their failure, especially when they are subjected to important axial compressive forces that might lead to buckling. Therefore, it must be considered in stress analysis and designing and loading of such structures. In this paper, the buckling and post-buckling behaviors of stainless-steel cracked plates under axial c...
